This kit of the small-capacity PAZ-3205 bus in suburban form from AVD Models is probably the most easily recognized subject of the maker's whole bus line. Even someone with no interest in vehicles knows it, because it is still met on routes across the whole post-Soviet area. 1:43 scale means the finished model matches the usual collector car models, and thanks to the compact length of the real vehicle it takes up less room in a cabinet than a full-size city bus.
The PAZ-3205 comes from the Pavlovo bus plant and has been built in its basic form since the end of the 1980s. Its strength lies in simplicity: a short shell, a sturdy chassis and easy repair anywhere there is a wrench and a welder. The suburban form differs from the city one in the layout of the passenger space, because longer routes need more seats and less standing room. It is in exactly this configuration that the vehicles serve routes between small towns and villages where only a few services run in a whole day.
The color schemes of the operators tend to be simple on this type, but the paint is usually quite scuffed, which is an opportunity for the modeler. You will get the best results by letting the base shade dry, adding fine vertical streaks in thinned darker paint and only then evening up the gloss. On the doorsill, around the handles and on the edge of the steps it pays to suggest worn metal with a very fine dry brush. Weather the lower sections and the wheel arches with a dust shade working from the bottom upward, not evenly over the whole surface.
