An add-on set from Eduard for building a model of the two-seat carrier combat aircraft Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet in 1:48 scale. The LööK range deals with the cockpit: the basis is a color-printed instrument panel with printed displays and instruments, which Eduard supplements as standard with pre-painted steel harness belts. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the corresponding parts of the plastic kit.
The brand carries its accessories in several ranges, and without knowing the differences it is easy to buy something other than the modeler expected. A Zoom set is a smaller, pre-painted selection from the full photo-etched set, aimed at the cockpit. The full photo-etched set is more extensive and reaches into the external details as well. Masks are self-adhesive stencils for the glazing and the wheels, bundle sets combine several sets into one package and decal sets contain markings only. LööK is a different category - a three-dimensionally printed panel instead of sheet metal. The extended LööKplus variant adds further printed parts to the panel and the belts.
The Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet is the two-seat variant of the multirole carrier aircraft of the US Navy. Compared with the original Hornet it is larger, it has a reworked airframe, enlarged leading edge extensions and a more powerful pair of General Electric F414 engines. The rear seat is occupied by the weapon systems officer, which the different equipment of the two cockpits reflects.
First wash the printed parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry thoroughly. Separate them from the carrier with a sharp scalpel, not by twisting. They are bonded with super glue, and on larger areas the gel version with a longer setting time is safer. The pre-painted belts are not repainted, only formed carefully with tweezers so that they do not look like flat sheet metal. On modern cockpits with large displays a final flat clear coat with a spot of gloss on the instrument glass looks good.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
