An injection-molded plastic kit of the supersonic MiG-21MF fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is a popular, well shaped tooling of the MiG-21 in the MF version. Eduard issues this type in several editions, from the basic one with plastic only up to editions with photo-etched parts, masks and a wider choice of schemes, so the actual contents depend on the edition of the box.
The MiG-21MF was one of the most widespread versions of the legendary Soviet supersonic fighter. It was a further developed MiG-21 with a more powerful engine, a built-in twin-barrel cannon and an enlarged dorsal spine with a larger fuel reserve. It served as a day fighter and as a light attack aircraft able to carry external stores, and it was deployed in many conflicts around the world. The type saw mass service and export to dozens of countries and became a symbol of Cold War fighter aviation.
Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement, sand the joints and treat the surface with a primer. Spray metallic and camouflage finishes with an airbrush in thin coats; if the edition includes masks, use them for the canopy and the landing gear bays. Accent the panel lines with a wash and refine the cockpit interior with any photo-etched parts. Take care to balance the model correctly on the nose wheel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
