A model of the heavy cruiser Takao in her 1944 form, 1:700 scale, Japanese production by Fujimi. A ship with a massive forward superstructure.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Takao is among the most photogenic Japanese cruisers, and Fujimi offers her in the state from the autumn operation of 1944. The 1:700 scale lets you build cruisers, battleships and carriers in one size and compare their real proportions. The composition of the parts is described by the manufacturer on the packaging.
The cruiser gave her name to a whole class of four and was distinguished by an unusually tall and heavy forward superstructure, which gives her a characteristic appearance. The armament consisted of ten barrels of 20.3 cm caliber in five turrets, supplemented by torpedo armament and numerous anti-aircraft weapons. In the second half of 1944 she sailed with the main force toward the Philippine islands, was hit on the way by torpedoes from an American submarine and withdrew with heavy damage to Singapore, where she was no longer capable of combat operations until the end of the war.
The tall superstructure is assembled from several tiered parts, on which it pays to check that they are square, otherwise the deviation adds up. Glue the torpedo tubes and the light weapon tubs only after the hull has been painted. The model gains a great deal from fine navigational rigging of thin thread stretched between the masts.
The product consists of parts intended to be glued and painted. Modeling chemicals and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
