Replacement wheels for models of the McDonnell F-101A and F-101C Voodoo in 1:72 scale. An accessory for improving the detail of the landing gear.
Responsibility details are not available.
The McDonnell F-101 Voodoo is an American supersonic aircraft from the 1950s with a distinctive fuselage shape and a high-set tail surface. The single-seat F-101A and F-101C versions were intended for attacking ground targets and for escort, and reconnaissance machines later developed out of them. On a model the landing gear wheels are a small item, but one everybody notices: a finished aircraft stands on them and they are in the foreground when you look into a cabinet.
The set replaces the wheels from the kit with a version that has better detail on the tread, the rim and the hub. How many pieces it contains and how they are seated on the landing gear legs is described in the instructions enclosed with the set.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them degrease and dry. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest, so that the shape of the wheel stays regular. If the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models will not hold on them and cyanoacrylate glue is needed. The rims are easier to paint if you separate them with a mask or paint them before the rubber part. If the wheels have the tire flattening worked in, turn them so that the flattened face points toward the ground.
The set suits modelers who build the F-101 in 1:72 scale and want to improve the look of the landing gear with a small intervention. The kit of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
