Plastic kit of the Trumpeter Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus in 1:72 scale: the German super-heavy tank, the heaviest enclosed armored vehicle in history.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the German super-heavy tank Pz.Kpfw.VIII Maus in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The smaller scale makes it possible to build an otherwise enormous tank at a sensible size. The model is built as an unassembled kit.
The Maus was a German super-heavy prototype of the end of the Second World War and remains the heaviest enclosed armored fighting vehicle ever created, with a weight approaching 190 tons. It was driven by an experimental electric transmission and the main armament was a 128 mm gun complemented by a coaxial 75 mm gun. Because of the enormous weight and limited mobility (a speed of only around 18 km/h) only prototypes were built and the vehicle never reached series production or real service.
Even in the smaller scale, assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull first. The massive armor plates benefit from a smooth coat over a primer. For weathering use washes in the joints and pigments for dust; the large areas offer room for gentle shading and for bringing out the texture.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
