An injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft Grumman AF-2S Guardian in 1:72 scale from the Sword brand. It is a new mold; the Killer version represented the attack part of the Guardian pair, which together with the Hunter search machine formed an anti-submarine hunter team. The kit includes features that make joining the fuselage and wings easier.
The Grumman AF Guardian was a large single-engine carrier aircraft of the US Navy from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. Anti-submarine duty was performed by pairs of machines: the Hunter version carried a search radar, while the Killer carried the armament to attack a submarine once found. In its day the Guardian was the largest single-engine carrier aircraft in service.
This is a short-run kit, so expect to spend more care on cleaning the parts up and on fit. Glue with liquid plastic cement and fill the seams. For the naval version, the dark blue overall finish (Sea Blue) typical of the period is the right choice.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
