This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Sword depicts the carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft Grumman AF-2W Guardian in the Hunter version, that is, the search machine with radar. The box contains plastic parts and a mask set; the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Guardian was a large single-engine carrier aircraft of the US Navy from the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. The anti-submarine system was formed by a pair of machines: the Hunter search aircraft carried a search radar in a large ventral radome, while the Killer attack aircraft carried the weapons. In its time in service the Guardian was the largest single-engine carrier aircraft of the US Navy.
This is a kit with short-run characteristics, so clean the parts up and dry-fit them before gluing. Finish the cockpit and the interior of the radome before closing the fuselage. Unify the navy blue schemes with a matte clear coat; the enclosed masks make spraying the glazing cleanly much easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
