A road strip is the basis of every town and country scene. It leads the eye across an area, links houses with a station and makes sense of everything standing around it. This piece is prepared in H0 scale, that is in the most widespread size of layouts, and it solves the most unpleasant part of building a street, namely a continuous flat surface with no visible joints.
The strip is one meter long. In H0 scale, that is 1:87, that corresponds to roughly eighty-seven meters of real road, so on an ordinary home layout it will do for a long run including turnings cut from the one piece.
The surface has to be flat, dry and free of dust. Every grain under the surface will show on a finished roadway as a bulge which you will no longer be able to put right. The strip can be shortened with a sharp knife against a steel ruler; mark curves out in advance and make the cut in two passes, so that the edge is not left frayed. Hide the transition to the terrain with a fine loose material or with grass growth, so that the edge does not show. Add the markings, curbstones and sidewalks according to the subject you are building.
It will be appreciated by anyone building a layout or a diorama in H0 who does not want to make a roadway from scratch out of filler and abrasive paper. Working with the strip is straightforward, so even a modeler who is only starting out on scenery will manage it.
The package holds the road strip. A surface, the glue, the paints and the other accessories of scenery are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
