What the material is for

Tiling gives an interior its character even before the furniture comes into it. A corridor, a kitchen, a bathroom or an entrance hall are recognized precisely by the floor. Laying out a regular grid of tiles by hand is tedious, however, and this is where finished printing in 1:35 scale comes into its own.

Printing on cardboard

The tile pattern is printed on cardboard, which holds its shape, does not curl and takes even a larger continuous area without waving. The size of the tiles is reduced to 1:35 scale, so the grid matches figures of the same scale and in a finished scene looks neither coarse nor too fine.

Building tips

• Always guide the cut along the joint between tiles; in the middle of a tile the interruption is visible.
• Before gluing, check whether the grid lines up with the direction of the walls of the room.
• Glue the cardboard with a thin white glue spread over the whole area of the base.
• Bring the joints out with a dark wash, which runs into the printed artwork and gives it depth.
• In places people walk through, apply fine dusting; that is where tiling suffers most in reality.

It will find a use even where only a piece of floor is visible through an open door. The package contains only the printed material. The setting, furniture, figures, glue and paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
