This set from the Polish brand MASTER brings an accurate replica of the German LMG 08 Spandau aircraft machine gun of the First World War. The basis is a turned brass barrel with a drilled cooling jacket, supplemented by further brass and resin parts. The result is an incomparably finer level of detail than the plastic parts from a kit can offer.
The LMG 08, derived from the ground Maxim, was the standard fixed onboard weapon of most German fighters of the First World War. It was mounted on the cowling in front of the pilot and fired synchronized through the propeller disc.
Metal parts are best joined by soldering, or with a quality super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent before gluing and cut them carefully from the casting blocks. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer suitable for smooth metals.
