This detail set from the Czech maker Hauler lets you build the British Vickers Mk.1 heavy machine gun in 1:48 scale. It combines resin castings with fine photo-etched parts, so it faithfully captures the barrel cooling jacket, the body of the weapon and the mount. It is not a model of a vehicle: it is an armament and diorama accessory to go with figures, equipment or a firing position.
The Vickers is a British water-cooled heavy machine gun in .303 caliber, one of the longest-serving weapon systems of the British army; it stayed in service from before the First World War through a good part of the 20th century. It was known for its reliability in sustained fire.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks; separate the photo-etched parts on a hard surface. Bond everything with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Set the metal surfaces apart with a dark base and a light sheen on the exposed edges; do any sanding with respiratory protection.
This is an accessory set, not a model of a vehicle in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and figures are not included in the package.
