The real subject

The AMX is a light subsonic attack aircraft that came about in cooperation between the Italian and Brazilian aircraft industries. In Italian service the name Ghibli stuck to it. The single-seat version has a tight cockpit with an ejection seat, an instrument panel and side panels, which a plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures only in rough outline.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensional interior elements prepared for the kit of the AMX from Italeri. The graphics are layered and slightly raised, so the dials, the switches, the panel lettering and the seat belts stand out even under the cockpit glazing. Drawing the instruments with a brush is done away with, and so is the laborious assembly of small photo-etched pieces.

Application

Spray the cockpit with a base color first and let it dry completely; the surface under the elements has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Before applying, follow the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set. The application procedure differs between the individual ranges, and the instructions state whether the elements are applied dry or by the wet method. Separate the individual elements with a sharp blade, move them with tweezers and press them down with a soft tool so that they seat into the corners and onto the edges of the panels.

Who it is for

For a modeler who wants a legible interior under an opened canopy and does not want to paint dials by hand. The work takes an hour and a less experienced builder can manage it, though fine-tipped tweezers and good lighting help. The set does not hold a kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
