About product

Mosquito Mk. II and Mk. VI – clear canopy 1:72

A clear vacuum-formed part for the British twin-engine de Havilland Mosquito in 1:72 scale from Rob Taurus. It is intended for the fighter branch of the type, that is for the Mk. II night fighter and the Mk. VI fighter-bomber, which have a completely differently arranged nose and canopy than the bomber and reconnaissance versions.

What sets the fighter Mosquito apart

While the bomber and photo-reconnaissance versions carry the navigator's glazed nose, the fighter configuration has a solid nose fitted with gun armament and a flat bulletproof windscreen in front of the pilot. The crew entry is moved to the side of the fuselage. The Mk. II served from 1942 with night fighter squadrons, and the Mk. VI became the most numerous version of the whole family and made its name with accurate low-level strikes, with escort work and in the fight against shipping.

Recommended procedure

The surest way is to use the original part from the kit as a template: offer it up to the vacuum-formed molding and trace the cutting line with a thin marker. Cut about one millimeter outside the line and sand the rest down. If the molding flexes while being sanded, fill it from the inside with modeling putty; it then holds its shape and does not deform.

Who the part is intended for

  • builders of Royal Air Force night fighters
  • modelers building fighter-bomber Mosquitos
  • those who want to open the canopy and show the pilot's compartment
  • more experienced builders used to formed parts

This is a separate accessory. The model of the twin-engine aircraft, the glue and the paints are not included in the delivery.
