An accessory set of landing gear wheels and exhausts for models of the Pilatus PC-9 trainer in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The PC-9 is a Swiss turboprop trainer on which pilots prepare for the transition to jets. It is operated by a number of air forces and, thanks to its slender fuselage and glazed cockpit, it is a rewarding subject even in the small scale. The landing gear wheels and the exhausts of the powerplant are among the places where the simplification of plastic parts shows first.
The set brings landing gear wheels and exhausts for PC-9 models in 1:72 scale. They replace the corresponding plastic parts from the kit and give finer shapes than series injection molding can reproduce. It is a small change with a clearly visible result, so it also suits as a first accessory to a model already under way.
Separate the parts carefully with a sharp knife or a fine saw, true the mating surfaces and try dry how they sit in their places. They are bonded with super glue or with epoxy; cement for polystyrene does not hold here. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer. The wheels come alive when the dark tone of the tire is complemented by lightening the edges of the tread and the rim is painted separately. The exhausts are usually finished in metallic shades with a final darkening around the mouth.
The set suits modelers who want to move a model of the trainer closer to the real aircraft without extensive work. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
