Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Valom, who concentrates on subjects outside the mainstream. This boxing covers the military variant C.2 in the markings of the flight used to carry members of the royal family. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and it is a short-run kit, that is the type of kit where the modeler is expected to do some fitting work.
The Vickers Viking was a British twin-engine transport aircraft of the immediate postwar generation, derived in design from an earlier bomber type from the same works: it took over its wing and tail surfaces and added a new fuselage with room for passengers. Power came from two Bristol Hercules radial engines in nacelles on the wing, and the landing gear was of the tailwheel type with retractable main wheels. The Viking was among the first British postwar transport aircraft and became the basis of a whole family of machines from which military transport versions also grew. The designation C.2 belongs to the military branch of the type.
The Vickers Viking is a model with large smooth fuselage surfaces, so the joints of the fuselage halves have to be done with care: filler, sanding through several grits and a check with primer, which reveals hidden scratches immediately. With a twin-engine high-wing layout, watch the symmetry of the nacelles: fit both at once and let them set on a flat surface with the model supported so that the wing is not twisted. A tailwheel undercarriage calls for weight in the nose; test the balance dry before gluing the fuselage together and fix the lead or modeling weight in place firmly so that it cannot shift when the model is handled. A ceremonial scheme means a high gloss: spray thinly, let it dry thoroughly and polish only once it has fully cured. Apply the decals over a gloss base and use a decal softener so that they settle onto the panel transitions. Keep the weathering to a minimum, because an aircraft in such a role was kept in perfect condition.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
