A purple shade from the water-based Gunze acrylic range. A color for mixing violet tones, brightening shadows and eye-catching accessories.
Responsibility details are not available.
Violet and purple tones rarely appear on models as an overall finish, yet anyone who mixes shades of their own can hardly do without them. A drop of purple shifts blue into a cold tone, knocks back an over-yellow one and turns an ordinary brown into the tone shadows have in damp terrain. That is exactly why it is on the palette of experienced builders, even though no one ever spots it directly on the finished model.
As a full color it suits the clothing of figures, banners and standards, lamp lenses, the coloring of plastics in the interiors of civilian machines, fantasy vehicles and models that openly do not follow documentation. In artistically conceived dioramas it also serves for the bluish violet cast of distant surfaces that creates an impression of depth.
The range is based on a water-thinnable acrylic binder, so it is worked without a sharp odor. Violet pigments are among the less opaque ones, so count on a lighter base and on several thin coats. Clean the rim before closing the jar, so that next time the lid does not have to be wrenched off.
A top varnish unifies the sheen and protects the shade during further handling of the model.
Store the jars upright in the warm and away from direct sun. The most common cause of ruin is not age but residue of dried material on the thread, because of which the lid stops seating and the contents gradually dry out. So wipe the rim after every use.
Thickened paint can still be saved by slow stirring with a few drops of thinner; separated binder, curdled lumps or a sour smell, however, mean the contents are finished and further thinning will not help.
