A Real Colors modeling paint in the blue-green Aotake shade, the protective finish of the internal surfaces of Japanese aircraft. A 17 ml bottle, code RC958.
Responsibility details are not available.
Aotake is the blue-green protective finish applied to the internal metal surfaces of Japanese aircraft. It was not camouflage but protection for bare metal, and it was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service and the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force alike. The original finish was translucent, so the metal showed through it and the resulting tone changed with the thickness of the coat and with the base.
On the surfaces that stayed unpainted on Japanese aircraft: landing gear bays, the inner faces of covers and doors, the internal structure of the airframe. These are places that are not immediately visible on a finished model, but seen from below or into an open bay they reveal whether the model was built with care. The shade also suits small internal equipment and metal parts.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use. To bring the result close to the original translucent finish, apply the paint in thin coats over a light or metallic-looking base and let them set in between; one continuous heavy coat looks like ordinary paint and the effect disappears. Spray the internal surfaces before you assemble the sections you can no longer reach into. Wash and degrease the surface first, as paint does not hold on greasy metal or plastic.
The package contains one bottle of 17 ml. Thinner, primer, varnishes and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise. Follow the manufacturer's information for thinning and cleaning tools, and keep the bottle carefully closed.
