Orange wire 0.3 mm, length 1 meter

Thin modeling wire in an orange form, of 0.3 mm diameter and in a length of 1 meter. It belongs among the materials for building, that is, among the things with which a modeler makes what is missing in a kit or what is done too coarsely in it. A meter lasts for several models, because only short pieces are cut off it.

Where you will use the wire

Most often as cabling: from the ignition to the cylinders of an engine, along the walls of a cabin, in landing gear bays, in the engine compartment of a car or between the instruments on a dashboard. The color is not merely decoration. When you set the individual circuits apart, the whole looks orderly and a viewer sees that the wiring leads somewhere. A striking orange also suits places where a cable is meant to be conspicuous in reality too, that is, on tow and starting cords, loops and marked lines. It also comes into its own as control rods or as a reinforcement of a fragile joint, where it is sunk into a drilled hole.

Working with the wire

• cut it with side cutters, as the blade of a knife will only flatten the wire and go blunt itself
• first straighten the one-meter coil by pulling it over a rounded edge, not by bending it
• make bends around a round object, as a sharp kink will crack the material
• glue with super glue, ideally into a drilled hole, not butt on
• degrease the surface before any painting, so that the paint does not slide off
