An injection-molded plastic kit of the four-engine Douglas C-118 Liftmaster transport aircraft in 1:144 scale from Minicraft. The edition usually comes with good decals and a clear stand for displaying the model in flight. The model is supplied as plastic parts; glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package.
The Douglas C-118 Liftmaster was a military transport aircraft derived from the successful Douglas DC-6 airliner. Its four radial piston engines gave it a long range and a good payload, thanks to which it served the US Air Force and the US Navy from the middle of the 1950s to carry troops and cargo over long distances during the Cold War. The Liftmaster was one of the mainstays of military air transport of the time, until jet and turboprop machines gradually replaced it.
A smaller model in 1:144 scale builds quickly, but pay attention to the precise seating of the four engine nacelles and the propellers for the sake of symmetry. Use liquid cement on the plastic and fill and gently sand the fuselage joints. Create the natural metal or light finish of transport aircraft on a smooth base; prime the large surfaces and spray them with an airbrush. Apply the good decals onto a gloss coat. The stand that is included makes it possible to display the aircraft in the flying position — the model is then effective even without the landing gear extended.
