The printed sheet from ETA diorama serves to round out a retail scene in 1:35 scale. These are not decals or plastic parts, but printed paper for trimming by hand. Posters and display signs are a typical element of shops: they are glued into shop windows, onto glass doors, onto shelving and onto outside walls. A glazed area with display signs is exactly what tells an ordinary box of a building apart from a believable shop.
Into a glazed area, glue the display signs from the inside, that is onto the back of the transparent part. Use a glue for clear plastic that dries without clouding – ordinary PVA glue leaves a milky veil on glass. Apply it only to the edges of the motif and press it down with a soft brush. Do not place the display signs in a single row at a single height; real shop windows are filled irregularly and some of the posters overlap.
On an outside wall, coat the back with a thin layer of PVA glue and press the air out from the center outward. Once dry, press the edges home so that they do not stand proud anywhere, and go over the white cut with the color of the undercoat. Aging is managed by dry pigment drawn from top to bottom and light wearing through with an abrasive sponge in the places where the paper would be rubbed by passers-by. A thin layer of matte clear coat comes at the end, in a shop window only on the paper and not on the glass.
