An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Seafire Mk.Ib carrier fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov. The Vokes form refers to the tropical Vokes dust filter under the nose. This finely detailed model, with the cockpit glazing on a sprue of its own, offers decals for several machines. Check the particular package contents against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Seafire was the shipborne version of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire fighter, adapted for service with the Fleet Air Arm. The Mk.Ib variant came from converting Spitfire Mk.Vb aircraft: it received a tailhook for landing on a carrier deck and other naval equipment. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12. The tropical Vokes filter allowed operation in dusty and hot conditions.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Mask the cockpit glazing and glue it with canopy glue. Paint the interior and the tailhook and seat them according to the instructions. Lay down a gloss coat before the decals; naval machines typically carried gray-blue schemes with a light underside, so bring out the panel lines with a thin wash and add the fine wear that service at sea brings.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
