The subject is the Toyota Celica Supra in the guise of a marshal car of the Grand Prix at Long Beach, that is a production coupe in the official colors of the event rather than a circuit special.
The Celica Supra was created as the top version of the Celica coupe. It differed from the ordinary version in a lengthened front end, which made room for an inline six, in richer equipment and in different chassis tuning. The car thus stood between a sports coupe and a touring gran turismo. Support and marshal vehicles are used at circuits to inspect the track, to carry the course officials and to lead the field before the start. They usually carry striking liveries, beacons and warning equipment, which makes them an attractive modeling theme quite unlike the classic racing cars.
It is a good idea to prime the whole body first so that any unevenness along the parting line shows up. Apply the color in thin coats and let it cure properly; only then come the gloss coat, the decals and the final clear coat. The model is usually left clean, without weathering, with the emphasis on a smooth gloss finish.
