The bombardier position and the interior of the chin turret for the B-17G in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer SBS Model. An accessory set; it is not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. It concentrates on the nose of the bomber, that is, on the place where the most can be seen into the model. The glazed nose of the B-17 offers a view of the bombardier's station with its bombsight and, right behind it, of the interior of the twin-gun turret under the fuselage. An injection mold manages this space only in rough outline, because it is full of instruments, wiring and small equipment. In the large 1:32 scale the difference between suggested relief and separately cast elements is impossible to overlook.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was an American four-engine bomber. The G version is the best known and is recognized precisely by the chin turret under the glazed nose, which added defensive fire forward, where the earlier versions were most vulnerable. The bombardier sat right at the front and his station was glazed on practically every side.
The set is for modelers who build the B-17 in a large scale and want the glazed nose to bear a close look. Working with resin is not complicated, but it differs from plastic and calls for planning the painting in advance.
It is not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
