Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a British light cruiser in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. It is the Deluxe edition, which adds photo-etched parts and turned metal barrels to the plastic parts for the greatest fineness of detail. The box allows a build with a full hull as well as a waterline version. The exact contents and the marking schemes follow the instructions in it.
HMS Penelope was a light cruiser of the Arethusa class of the Royal Navy. During the Second World War it became known above all in the fighting in the Mediterranean, where it was one of the defenders of Malta and took part in a number of attacks on Axis supply convoys. For the number of splinter hits it earned a nickname referring to its perforated hull. The fast and nimble cruisers of the Arethusa class formed an important part of the light forces of the British fleet.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Decide whether you are building the full hull on a stand or the waterline version set into a sea surface. Glue the fine photo-etched parts, for example the railings and the radars, with cyanoacrylate; the turned metal barrels replace the plastic ones and look more realistic. Apply a primer before painting, best with an airbrush, and complete the wartime camouflage with discreet washes and a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
