Deck wood for the kit of the Chinese gunboat Zhong Shan in the 1:150 size. Suitable for finishing a model for a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is prepared for a model of the gunboat Zhong Shan in the generous scale of 1:150, in which the structure of the deck planks truly stands out. It is precisely on a vessel of this size that the difference between engraved plastic and real wood shows most, and the change of surface moves the model a class higher. The gunboat herself is not large in any way, but thanks to the scale even the small equipment around the superstructures stands out on her.
The vessel was built by a Japanese shipyard at the beginning of the twentieth century and originally bore the name Yongfeng. Later she was renamed after Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China, whom the Chinese know as Sun Zhongshan. In October 1938 the gunboat was sunk by Japanese air units during the fighting on the Yangtze River. In 1997 the wreck was raised, repaired and serves as a museum exhibit. The name is thus borne by one of the best known vessels of Chinese history of the twentieth century.
Lay the more extensive areas part by part and let the glue set between the steps, as otherwise the wood may ripple. Around the deck openings verify the shape dry first and only then remove material. For the period appearance a warmer, slightly grayed tone suits better than markedly red wood. Seat the deck fittings only after drying, as otherwise the parts may shift.
