Freedom Model Kits 1:16 Kettenkrad with cart and Goliath is a large plastic kit of German half-track equipment of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This unassembled injection-molded plastic kit in the large 1:16 scale brings three subjects together: the Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkrad half-track motorcycle tractor, a trailer cart and the miniature Sd.Kfz. 302 Goliath tracked demolition charge. The large scale shows to advantage in the richly broken-down engine and running gear. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package.
The Kettenkrad was a unique combination of a motorcycle and a tracked chassis, with a steered wheel at the front and tracks at the rear. The German army used it as a light tractor, to lay cable and to move about in difficult terrain. The Goliath, by contrast, was a remotely controlled single-use tracked demolition charge intended to destroy fortifications, equipment and obstacles. Both vehicles are among the most interesting curiosities of German equipment of the Second World War.
In a large scale it pays to assemble and paint the engine and the running gear before closing them up. Use liquid cement for plastic, primer and an airbrush; the broken-up surface benefits from washes in the recesses and dust pigments. The Kettenkrad and the Goliath both offer room for fine weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
