This is not an aircraft model but a combined detailing set, Big Ed, from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for models of the Japanese Aichi D3A1 Val carrier dive bomber in 1:48 scale. The Big Ed package brings several separate sets together in one box: photo-etched parts to raise the detail, colored steel seat belts and a masking set.
The Aichi D3A, known to the Allies by the reporting name Val, was a Japanese carrier dive bomber of the start of the war in the Pacific. It took part in a number of key operations and made its name as an accurate strike aircraft flown from aircraft carriers.
Separate the fine photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and bond them with super glue. The colored belts only need gluing in spots. The masks make spraying the cockpit frames and the markings quicker and more accurate. The set lifts the detail of the interior and the exterior markedly.
The set does not hold an aircraft model. It is meant for the matching kit in 1:48 scale, which is not included in the package.
