Cream Brown

The color

Cream Brown is a light brown tone with a creamy cast, a shade between sand and brown, without a gray or red shift. It belongs to the paints rarely used alone over a whole area on a model; they earn their keep the moment a brown needs to be lightened, a transition between two tones softened, or a detail brought out that would otherwise disappear into a dark area.

Where You Will Use the Shade

It works well on wood, where it forms a lighter grain pattern, on leather gear, straps and seats, on tarps and cargo canvas, and on light dust buildup on a surface. On vehicle and aircraft interiors, it suits highlighting edges and raised shapes, since a lighter tone brings forward what should stand out. On figures, it is a welcome base for light-colored parts of equipment.

Work tips

Stir the paint before use and apply it in thin coats rather than one heavy one. Always test the shade on a scrap piece of plastic away from the model, since light tones behave differently over a dark base than over a light one. For thinning, use a thinner made for this line and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package. Blend transitions while the paint is still wet, and work in daylight; under artificial light, cream tones shift toward yellow.
