An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank in the model 1942 version with the simplified welded turret, in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the late production form of the KV-1 with an angular welded turret whose shape was simplified for greater efficiency of manufacture. The kit offers solid detail, photo-etched parts and a straightforward build in the smaller scale.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank that impressed at the beginning of the war with its heavy armor. The model 1942 version received thicker armor and a 76.2 mm gun. The simplified welded turret with its angular shapes came about precisely in order to speed up and cheapen series production under demanding wartime conditions. The KV-1 paved the way for the later Soviet heavy tanks.
Assemble and paint the running gear before closing up the hull. Use thin cement on the plastic. Apply a primer, spray the paints with an airbrush and bring the Soviet green to life with dark washes into the detail and pigments for dust and mud on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
