What it is and what it is not

It is not a mask cut to the outline of a particular model and it is not a decal. It is a universal pattern stencil that you lay on a surface and spray or stipple the paint through. The flexibility matters here - the stencil adapts even to rounded and undulating surfaces, where a hard template would not sit.

Use

• Lay the stencil on a dry base color and press it down so that it touches over its whole area.
• Apply the paint thinly and in several passes, ideally with an airbrush or by stippling with a sponge.
• Take the stencil off before the paint has dried completely, because otherwise the edge of the deposit can lift.
• With a pattern that is to continue across the edge of a part, lay out in advance where it will carry on.
• Clean the stencil after the work, so that dried paint does not settle in the openings.
