German staff tent type 2 1:72 is a one-piece resin casting of the large Gruppenzelt group tent from Metallic Details.

A diorama accessory, not a kit of equipment. It is a resin casting of a German military tent of the Second World War period, listed by the manufacturer as the Gruppenzelt, in 1:72 scale. The finished part measures roughly 82x65x32 mm, which makes it the largest piece in the whole range of tents: on a diorama it takes up real area and becomes its dominant feature. It is supplied unpainted, and paints are not included in the package.
A group tent served as shelter for a whole squad or gun crew, or as a field workplace, store and assembly point. The construction was simple and repairable in the field: canvas panels tensioned over center poles, guyed with lines and pegged into the ground. The canvas came in a camouflage pattern or in a plain earth shade and quickly changed tone through fading and soiling, so two tents from the same batch looked different after a few weeks in the field. For a modeler it is a practical element of the setting: it stands in for a building, gives the scene volume and at the same time does not overwhelm the model of equipment itself.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the underside with sanding paper so that the tent sits flat on its base; do not breathe resin dust in. It is bonded to the scene with super glue (cyanoacrylate). After the primer, lay down the base shade of the canvas, go on with a lighter dry brush along the ridges of the folds and a dark wash into their depths, as the contrast of the folds decides whether the casting looks like textile. Dust the hem at ground level with pigments and add static grass, worn paths and small clutter around the tent.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
