An Aber 1:700 set of 12 turned barrels of 127 mm caliber will replace the plastic barrels of the anti-aircraft guns on models of Japanese warships.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of twelve turned metal gun barrels of 127 mm caliber in 1:700 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. This is not a ship kit but replacement parts for the plastic barrels of the anti-aircraft armament of Japanese warships. Each barrel is perfectly straight, has a circular section and a drilled-out muzzle, details that injection-molded plastic cannot offer in this scale.
Guns of 127 mm caliber, that is 12.7 cm, formed the backbone of the heavy anti-aircraft defense of the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War. They were mounted in twin mounts placed along the sides of the superstructure of large units, including the battleships Yamato and Musashi, and also on other types of ship. Twelve barrels in the set correspond to six such twin positions.
Cut the plastic barrels off at the shield of the mount and drill the holes out with a micro drill bit to the diameter of the pin on the metal part. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue in the tiniest drops, and on twin mounts line both barrels up parallel before the glue dries. Degrease the metal and spray it with a base paint suitable for metal. Do the painting together with the mount; a fine dark wash will then draw out the shadows between the barrels and the shield.
This is an add-on set of turned barrels, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
