What it is

Two parts with the subject of a stone wall, each measuring 28 x 14 cm, intended for N and Z scales, that is 1:160 and 1:220. A stone wall belongs among the rewarding elements of a scene: a retaining wall in the cutting of a line, the boundary wall of a plot, the base course of a ramp or the bank of a canal. The longer side corresponds in N scale to roughly forty-five meters of a real wall.

Where you will use it

The wall serves well where a scene breaks upwards. It evens out the difference between the line and the surrounding terrain, it ends a slope that would otherwise end in nothing, and it takes up very little room. In a scene broken up in height it also works as a support for the eye, because the horizontal line of the crown of the wall holds the whole view together. It pays to alternate the wall with other surfaces, for example with a slope overgrown with greenery, so that the scene does not look monotonous.

Installation and painting

Lay the part on the place, draw round the height and the length you need and trim it with a sharp knife against a ruler. A wall three meters high works out at just under two centimeters in N scale, so you will cut several strips from one part. Run the joints where a bush, a post or a building will cover them. Then even the surface out with a thin glaze, bring the joints out in a darker shade and dust the edges of the stones lightly with a light pigment. At the foot of the wall suggest a deposit of soil, moss and self-sown growth, so that the wall does not look as if someone had just built it.

The package holds two parts of the stated size. A base, the terrain materials, the buildings, the paints, the pigments and the glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
