This item is an underwing accessory in 1:32 scale, not a kit of an aircraft. The name states that it is the version for British Phantoms in the markings of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, and the variant with a closed gun bay. The manufacturer offers similar pods for American machines too, so the external store can be matched to a particular version.
The SUU-23 is a gun pod built around a rotary 20 mm weapon with several barrels. It arose because the early Phantoms had no built-in cannon and in maneuvering combat they lacked a weapon for close range. The pod was hung on the center pylon under the fuselage and it became an ordinary part of the armament with British squadrons as well. Thanks to its high rate of fire it was an effective solution, even if at the cost of greater drag and poorer agility of the aircraft.
The pod is fairly bulky, so try offering it up dry before you decide on the final seating. A closed bay means a smooth side outline, which anyone who does not want to deal with internal details will appreciate. Choose the shade according to the underside of the machine and tune the boundary of the two colors, so that no visible dividing line arises. Suggest any scuffed edges with a dry brush, but do not overdo it.
