1:35 Tiger I, Otto Carius, turret number 217, May 1944 is a decal set for a model of the German heavy tank Tiger I in 1:35 scale from WEIKERT DECALS.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set for a model of the German Tiger I heavy tank. The name gives the commander's name Otto Carius, the turret number 217, the abbreviation Schw. and the month of May 1944. It is an accessory to a finished painted model, not a kit. The maker is WEIKERT DECALS.
The Tiger I, known in factory terms as the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. E, was a heavy tank with an 8.8 cm gun and thick, vertically set armor. Its combat weight exceeded fifty tons, which placed heavy demands on the running gear, on bridges and on rail transport, for which the wide combat tracks were also swapped for narrower transport ones. Otto Carius was a German tank commander who served with the Tiger on the Eastern Front; the vehicle with turret number 217 is repeatedly associated with him in modeling literature. The series covers the same vehicle in other months of 1944 as well, and for this item the name gives May.
Turret numbers go onto a rounded surface, where the film easily wrinkles. Coat the surface with gloss varnish, dip the decal briefly in warm water and settle it with a soft brush. Apply the softener in two thin coats so that the motif presses down against the edges and rivets. Once dry, unify the surface with a matte varnish and dust the markings lightly with pigment so that they do not look new.
