Eduard 1:350 DKM Blücher railings is a photo-etched railing set for the model of the heavy cruiser Blücher in 1:350 scale. The thin metal railing replaces the molded plastic substitute.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a model, not a kit. The set contains photo-etched railings cut to the run of the decks of this particular ship in 1:350 scale. On ship models the railing is an absolutely fundamental detail: it runs around the whole edge of every deck, it is seen against the sky and it simply cannot be made in plastic — either it is missing or it is molded as an opaque wall. A photo-etched railing is thin, see-through and gives the model a sense of scale straight away.
The Blücher was a German heavy cruiser of the Admiral Hipper class, taken into service at the beginning of 1940. She had extensive superstructures and long, broken-up decks bounded by railings, so a set of this kind really does cover a large part of the edge of the model.
Fit the railings as the very last step of the build, ideally only after the deck has been painted and weathered. Cut the strips of railing to the length you need before you take them off the fret, and always cut between the stanchions. Apply the glue in tiny drops along the lower edge — a thin film of super glue drawn along the edge is enough. It helps to work in short sections and to hold them with tweezers until the glue sets. Paint the railings while they are still on the fret; after fitting they only need touching in with a brush. A finished model with railings must not be picked up by the sides — set it on a stand or a base as soon as it is done.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
