This is a resin detail set, not an aircraft kit. The set replaces the seats in the cockpit of the American B-25 Mitchell bomber in the late production D, G, H and J versions with castings that carry crisper, finer definition than an injection mold can manage. The parts are separated from the casting blocks, cleaned up and fitted into the cockpit of a base model in 1:48 scale. The set is made by the Czech studio Special Hobby.
In a glazed cockpit the seat is one of the first parts the eye notices on a finished model. Cast resin allows thin shell walls, well-defined lightening holes, frame stiffeners and the texture of the upholstery, details that injection-molded plastic usually only hints at. The difference shows above all when you leave the cockpit open or add a seat harness.
The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber of the Second World War, used on every major front. The late D versions served mainly in the Pacific and Mediterranean theaters, the G and H versions carried a heavy cannon in the nose for attacks on shipping, and the most numerous J version returned to a glazed nose, although it was also built with a solid nose packed with machine guns. The cockpit remained conceptually the same across the versions, which is why one set of seats covers several of them.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent; there is usually mold release agent on the surface, and paint will not hold over it. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, do not snap them. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be inhaled. They are glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), because ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Dry-fit the part before gluing it in, as the cockpit floor may need adjusting. You can paint the interior with a brush, and a light wash and drybrushing suit the frames.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
