The Su-31 is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft of the highest class. Its landing gear is fixed and non-retractable, with a tailwheel at the back, so it stays in view in flight and is a prominent part on a model. The main legs are sprung and their slender shape is one of the things by which the machine is recognized. It is precisely this assembly that the set is aimed at.
The set replaces the landing gear legs and wheels supplied with the kit. Photo-etch and fiberglass parts are also included; fiberglass takes a thin cross-section and still holds its shape. The exact composition and part count are in the parts list enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard backing and make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in an etch bender, so that they come out sharp. They are glued with cyanoacrylate and need a base intended for metal before painting. Remove the excess material from the fiberglass parts by cutting a little away from the part and sand the rest down; sand dry only briefly and do not breathe the dust in. The other parts are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models has no effect on them; use cyanoacrylate. Wash and degrease everything before painting and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the procedure.
Try the landing gear dry and make sure the model stands straight and both legs are at the same angle; with fixed landing gear every deviation is visible at first glance. Paint the wheels separately and fit them at the very end.
A set of landing gear and wheel parts is supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
