A set of six Venturi tubes with a double throat in 1:48 scale. A replacement for a coarsely shaped or missing part on the fuselage of older aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Venturi tube is a narrowed tube on the outside of the fuselage through which air flows in flight. At the narrowest point a suction is created, and that drives the gyroscopic instruments in the cockpit, for example the artificial horizon or the turn indicator. On aircraft that had no engine-driven vacuum pump this was a common solution, and the tube is usually clearly visible on the fuselage. A version with a double throat gives a greater suction than a single tube.
The package holds six pieces in 1:48 scale, so it is enough for several models or leaves a spare in case the tiny part is lost during the build. The parts are separate, are not tied to one particular kit and can be used everywhere the original carried a Venturi tube and the kit deals with it only with a coarse molding.
The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models will not join them; use cyanoacrylate glue, and on a larger area preferably a thick one. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down carefully, so that the shape of the throat is not disturbed. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will hold poorly. Glue the tube on only after the main painting of the fuselage is finished, and check the exact procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. Work over a mat, because the part is tiny.
The set suits modelers of interwar aircraft and machines of the early Second World War who want to replace a coarse plastic molding with a fine part. The package contains the parts stated; the model, glue and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
