A plastic kit of the British battleship HMS Rodney in 1:700 scale from Meng. It is a snap-fit model with pre-colored parts, which can be assembled even without glue, so it is within reach of less experienced modelers as well. The box allows the ship to be built either with the full hull or as a waterline version and also contains wooden decks. The main 406 mm guns have barrels that can be elevated and turrets that rotate.
HMS Rodney was a British battleship of the Nelson class, characterized by an unconventional layout with all three triple turrets of the 406 mm (16 inch) main battery placed forward of the superstructure. Rodney became best known for her part in sinking the German battleship Bismarck in 1941, when her heavy guns played a key role. The Nelson class ships were among the most heavily armed British battleships of their day.
Thanks to the snap-fit design and the pre-colored parts the model can be built quickly and without glue, though we still recommend securing the joints with a drop of cement for plastic for strength. The pre-colored parts only need bringing out with a wash and a dry brush, and the wooden decks will stand out after light weathering. Anyone who wants to can spray the model completely with an airbrush. Glue the small parts and the guard rails on carefully with super glue.
The model is supplied unassembled. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
