Heinkel He 162 Salamander 1:72 from Hobby Boss — an injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet people's fighter of the end of the Second World War in an easy-build form.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Heinkel He 162 Salamander jet fighter in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model belongs to the easy assembly range with a smaller parts count, an engraved surface, one-piece glazing and decals. The landing gear can be built extended or retracted. Thanks to its simplicity it suits beginning modelers and a quick build.
The He 162 was a single-engine jet fighter developed at the very end of the Second World War under the emergency people's fighter program (Volksjäger). It was to be cheap, quick to build from non-strategic materials (a substantial part of the structure was wooden) and easy to fly even for less well trained pilots. Its characteristic feature is the jet engine mounted on top of the fuselage spine behind the cockpit. Despite the very short development time it was one of the fastest jet machines of its generation, although it saw only marginal combat.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Although this is an easy-build kit, the cockpit benefits from a wash and from a careful fit of the one-piece canopy. Mask the glazing for clean frames. Spray the mottled German camouflage of the end of the war with an airbrush over a primer in thin coats and bring it to life with a fine panel wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
