An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger II King Tiger (Sd.Kfz. 182) heavy tank in the version with the Porsche turret, in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Meng. The key recognition feature of this variant is the rounded turret front — unlike the later widespread Henschel turret with a flat, angular front. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with a decal sheet. The exact number of parts and the range of markings are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
The Tiger II, nicknamed the King Tiger (Konigstiger), was a German heavy tank committed from the second half of the Second World War. It combined strong armor with sloped plates and a massive 8.8 cm gun. The Porsche turret comes from early production and has the characteristic rounded, inward-curved front; the later Henschel turret has a flat front, simpler to manufacture. It is precisely by the shape of the turret that the two variants of the King Tiger are told apart — this kit depicts the variant with the Porsche turret.
Assemble and paint the running gear and the hull first, before you close the main assemblies. In 1:72 scale watch out for the small parts of the road wheels, track links and accessories — separate them carefully and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. We recommend a primer coat and airbrush application; German three-color camouflage over a dark yellow base is typical. Pick out weathering and paint wear with washes and pigments; on a heavy tank, mud and dust effects on the running gear and the lower hull show to advantage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
