A kit of the legendary British racing floatplane Supermarine S.5 in 1:72 scale from AMP. It is a short-run injection-molded kit with a fine surface and clear parts; the enclosed decals make it possible to build a racing machine from the Schneider Trophy series. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The Supermarine S.5 was a monoplane racing floatplane designed by the team around R. J. Mitchell for the contest for the Schneider Trophy. In 1927 it won and was among the high points of the aerodynamic and engine development of its day. Experience from these high-speed machines on floats later contributed to the line of development that led to the famous Spitfire fighter. The elegant slender fuselage and the pair of floats give the model an unmistakable look.
With a short-run kit it pays to test the parts dry, clean up the casting edges and fill the joints if need be. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling glue. The characteristic racing finish and glossy surfaces will benefit from a quality base and airbrush spraying; give attention to the aligned seating of the floats and their struts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
