Flaps for the 1:144 Short SC.7 Skyvan model cast in resin. The LACI set brings the angular British aircraft into the shape it has on a short approach.
Responsibility details are not available.
Cast parts replace the straight trailing edge of the wing on the model with surfaces carrying lowered landing flaps. On an aircraft built for short takeoffs and landings this is the position it spent a substantial part of its airborne time in, so the modification suits a diorama with cargo as well.
The Short SC.7 Skyvan was a British light transport aircraft with a pair of turboprop engines and an unmistakable angular fuselage that earned it the nickname flying box. A high-mounted wing, fixed landing gear and a folding ramp at the rear made it an ideal machine for undemanding airfields, for supplying remote areas and for dropping parachutists. It served with civil operators as well as with military users, in Austria and in Oman among others, and thanks to its simple construction it is still flown for jumps today.
Before building, let the castings rest in warm water with detergent and wipe them, so that the surface will accept paint. Remove the sprue blocks with a cut right at the part and finish the area with abrasive paper. Because of the angular shape of the fuselage, take care over the squareness of the seams, as every deviation shows on flat surfaces. A primer and ordinary modeling paint will handle the painting, and a fine accent of the seams in a dark shade will add contrast.
