Fading of the upper surfaces is the rule with olive camouflage, not the exception. Lifecolor Olive Drab Weathered FS34088 is a lightened variant of the classic olive, marked with a number from the American Federal Standard.

An olive camouflage shade in the form the manufacturer marks in the name as weathered, that is, worn by the weather or by use. The number FS34088 comes from the American Federal Standard color standard and refers to the olive color of upper surfaces.
Olive paint was unstable on real aircraft. Sun, rain, service fluids and washing changed it quickly and unevenly, so that after a few months in the field a machine looked different from the same type straight from the factory. The lightened variant of the shade deals with that state at the level of the paint itself: you do not have to lay anything else on the area for it to look used.
Fading is not even across an area. It shows most in the middle of the upper surface of the wing, where the skin is most exposed to the sun, while under the fuselage and in sheltered places the shade stays darker. Toward the edges of the surfaces, toward the dividing line and toward the lower part of the fuselage the difference is lost. The difference in shading can also be dealt with by using the lightened variant only on some surfaces and leaving the basic darker tone elsewhere. Around national insignia the area is often different, because a marking was repainted or covered in service and the surrounding color then does not match the rest of the wing.
For modelers of aircraft and ground vehicles who want an olive area in a used state and do not want to shade it by mixing. It complements the basic darker olive well.
