The photo-etched detail set holds parts of thin metal sheet intended to refine a plastic model of the Japanese battlecruiser Hiei in her fit of 1915, in 1:700 scale. It is not a model of the ship but an accessory for a kit you already own. The manufacturer is Kajika.
The photo-etched parts replace or add elements that cannot be cast faithfully in plastic — typically railings, ladders, cranes, signal equipment or the fine structures of the superstructure. The result is a considerably higher fidelity and finesse of detail, especially at close range and in photographs.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a glass or metal surface and bend them in a bending tool or against a ruler. Use cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or a special glue for photo-etched parts; ordinary plastic cement does not hold on metal. Degrease the parts before painting.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
