An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy armored car Sd.Kfz.231 in the eight-wheeled chassis variant (8-Rad) in 1:72 scale from Dragon, from the Armor Pro line. The model is marked by fine detail, several sprues of parts and a decal sheet with a number of marking options. The box contains assembly instructions.
The Sd.Kfz.231 (8-Rad) was a German heavy reconnaissance armored car introduced at the end of the 1930s. Eight driven and steered wheels gave it excellent mobility across country, high speed and a decent range; thanks to its front and rear driving positions it could reverse as fast as it drove forward. In the rotating hexagonal turret it carried a 20 mm quick-firing cannon and an MG34 machine gun. It was used for long-range reconnaissance and for fast strike actions on every front.
Assemble the eight-wheel chassis carefully and paint it before fitting the hull; turn each wheel so that the car stands square. Finish the turret interior before closing it up. Choose the base according to the period: early Panzergrau, or late Dunkelgelb with camouflage patches. A dark wash will deepen the panel lines and rivets, and a dry brush will pull out the edges. Dust and mud pigments on the wheels, the fenders and the belly of the hull will give a convincing patina. In 1:72 scale choose the finer effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
