An accessory for the cabin of a Japanese machine of the Second World War in 1:48 scale. The designation type 3 refers to one of several Japanese patterns that a modeler chooses according to the machine being built.
Japanese aviation ran from light agile fighters to long-range bombers, and for each category the pilot's station looked different. Army machines of the Ki-43 Hayabusa or Ki-61 Hien type had a fairly narrow cabin and a simple seat, so the harness made up a substantial part of what could be seen in it. On larger machines with a glazed nose the pilot's station adjoined further stations and all the details were exposed at once. Harness patterns differed according to the maker of the airframe and the year of production, which is why the manufacturer offers variants numbered separately.
Finish the seat, including the wear and the shadows, and only then start on the straps. In 1:48 scale it helps to lay out on paper in advance which way each belt will run, and only then reach for the tweezers: correcting the run of a strap afterwards is unpleasant. Leave the buckle slightly glossy and the surface of the strap matte instead; that way the detail is made out in the cabin even under a closed canopy.
