Wheels for the de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito in 1:72 scale are a resin accessory from the Czech brand Brengun, which replaces the plastic wheels from the box with a crisper casting with legible tread and hub detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set, not a model of an aircraft. It contains resin main landing gear wheels for models of the twin-engine aircraft de Havilland Mosquito in 1:72 scale. Resin holds fine detail substantially better than a split plastic part, so no parting line is left on the finished wheel that has to be laboriously sanded away, and the tread and the molded inscriptions on the sidewall of the tire stay legible even in a small scale.
The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito was a British twin-engine aircraft of largely wooden construction, powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. It was used in a whole range of roles, from fast bomber through reconnaissance to the heavy fighter version. On a model the landing gear wheels are among the elements best seen in the finished display case, because the model stands on precisely those.
First wash the casting with lukewarm water and detergent, so that residues of the release agent are removed, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc and sand the surface down on glass with abrasive paper, so that the wheel seats flat. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, as plastic cement has no effect on resin. Before painting, apply primer; it is advisable to tone the tire toward dark gray rather than toward pure black, and to paint the hub separately with a mask or a brush.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
